Canadian tradition: pond hockey

I wasn't sure what photo I was going to take today. I went through my normal day, and there wasn't anything in particular that caught my attention, and after my volleyball game, I figured I'd go for a little ride up the street and thought I'd go for a little walk and take a few pics of the outdoor rink on Preston St, next to the Plant. This is definitely one of Canada's biggest tradition, to see people out on the pond, playing pickup hockey, hearing the laughter the calls, the puck hitting the boards, the skates grinding the ice, it's just a comforting feeling. Something that I consider to be truly Canadian!

  1. Indeed! and my two young passionate hockey players would agree.

The above photos are quintessential Canada. :)

  2. Happy that you like them! :)

I wish I was a better skater and could join them! Ah well, I still enjoy watching from outside of the rink.

  3. These pics are great, reminds me of when I was a kid and we used to skate & play hockey on the creek for hours every night! My skates are all sharpened for this season, can't wait to go skating next week :)

  4. Jodi,

You should be coming to Ottawa and go skate on the canal :) Having sharp skates that are ready to go is also important! Have fun skating next week.

  5. I would love to go skating on the canal and had planned to this week but my trip got cancelled, not sure if I will be there before the canal closes, hopefully... They have some smaller scale outdoor rinks here so a few of us are going to start going on Sundays and maybe Mondays too :) Can't wait!
